Introducing Chef’s Specials: Generously filled baguettes crammed with interesting, exciting cuisine fusions, premium ingredients and flavour combinations new to Pret (and probably anywhere else, tbh).
Chef’s Specials are dreamed up by Zoe, our Exec Chef, and her team of brilliant chefs, and they’re only here for a limited run each, so when they’re gone, they’re gone.
They’re the kinds of things we get excited about… and we’re sure you will too.
Built for the curious (and hungry)
Ever spot a different flavour on the shelf and think, “oh, go on then”? Well, you’re in luck. Chef’s Specials are for people who like to try something new.
Each one starts by taking something familiar and giving it a Pret-style twist. Our Exec Chef Zoe loves fusion, so you can expect a lot of it – different cuisines that you would never think to put together (but that totally work) or an extra-special ingredient added to a flavour combination you already love.
First up: the Kimchi BLT Baguette
Say hello to our very first Chef’s Special, the Kimchi BLT Baguette.
It’s a classic BLT, full of the good stuff: Bacon (crispier than ever thanks to a new recipe), crunchy lettuce and juicy tomatoes. Then something a little unexpected – a slice of mature cheddar to add tangy, creamy, wholesome depth of flavour. Then something a LOT unexpected – we’ve added our very own, very special kimchi.
We’ve created it from scratch and worked hard to get the balance of it just right. This kimchi is tangy and punchy and complements the BLT (with cheese) perfectly, for a wonderful balance of flavours on our classic baguette.
The final result is a bright, vibrant meal, something a little bit unexpected but more than a bit delicious.
So, why kimchi on a BLT?
In short, it’s a sandwich that Zoe (our Exec Chef, remember) actually wants to eat. She finds Korean cuisine an exciting space to play in and, as you know by now, loves a fusion moment. In her words: “Bacon plus cheese plus kimchi equals a match made in heaven”.
Our chefs are super proud of this one, and we can’t wait for you to tuck in.
Keep your eyes peeled
Kimchi BLT Baguette hits the shelves on 12th May. It’s only hanging around for four weeks, so pop to Pret to give it a try while you can!
After that, it’ll be gone, ready to make way for the next one (and we’ve got some exciting things in store for you).
Also – don’t worry, Chef’s Specials will be easy to spot in shop. They’ve got their own brand-new box, a special design built to keep everything perfectly in place (and looking as good as it tastes).
