Pret’s so much more than a coffee shop, it’s a business with opportunity!

I joined Pret last year for the Xmas period. I transferred to London to finish college, where my Manager Nina gave me the idea of doing an apprenticeship rather than spending £40K at uni. Instead of work and study being separate, they go alongside one another. I study whilst working.

There are 40 people in my class, from loads of different companies, Coca-Cola, Asda, Morrisons, Bentley, many others. Great for connections in the future!

The more I grow, the more the responsibility. It’s bigger than a shop. There’s a charity, The Pret Foundation, too.

I’m still getting used to rush hours, and I’m always tired by end of shift – quick sip of water, like football, then straight back at it! I love building a relationship with regulars, having their drink ready, and a nice conversation – I like the bond of remembering who they are versus being a blank face.

I feel more independent now. When I first started I needed someone next to me to teach me the ways; now they trust that I get the job done!

It’s a very friendly environment, feel like I’ve been in the team a long time already! My manager Andrea sped me through the roles. I was at uni for a year, then took a gap year, figuring out what to do next. My friend works in Pret Victoria, applied, came in at 5am, did a trial shift and was invited back! Smooth from then on!

I wanted to pick up skills, learn. This is the perfect job to do that. Every day is different, so I’m adapting every single day, and I’m intrigued to learn! I'm thinking about doing an apprenticeship…finding out my options.

Love the free food and drink (Make mine a Salmon and Mango salad, with a Matcha latte).

I like the atmosphere and food! I’ve made lots of friends, started on the till, learnt lots about drinks too (now I make my own matcha!) and learning latte art (so far I know how to make a heart).

I now feel more comfortable with the busy times in the shop too!

Having a good team around us seriously helps!

Pret has helped me be more independent – renting, away from my parents. Weekly pay is so good, it’s easier to save money. And you save on food too, as you eat for free while you’re on shift!

I’ve grown a lot from when I started until now. I’ve learnt a lot about myself – from Team Member to Barista. We laugh and enjoy ourselves, even when we work hard.

Francis listens, he’s a good manager, he’ll always be there. I’ve never had that in a manager before, as well as all the leaders in the shop – we help each other like a team.

I head to the gym in my free time. My big passion – I’m a powerlifter. I love the personal challenge, no one would think I can lift that much but I can! Eat, breathe, repeat. I love it. Helps me feel more in control, I can do anything!

I love being part of a team where everyone’s voices are heard and respected.

I’ve been at Pret for 3 years, and look after all things Digital - I work to optimise and build new features for our App and Website, and to deliver new experiences that bring joy to our customers. I love being part of a team where everyone’s voices are heard and respected. A clear role, and a great social side too within the team. I’m also the team’s social secretary, organising team lunches, Xmas parties, rounders, sports days and more!

 Learning to juggle is important.

I like seeing how my team has grown by taking on more responsibility. Learning a lot about time management and helping them with their uni coursework alongside finishing everything on time!

Learning to juggle is important. And watching as they learn to use their own skills – develop their own special touch with customers, treating them how they want to be treated.
